- October 10: Parent Meeting - The High School Application Process (6:00 p.m.)
- March 8: School submits gown sizes to The Graduation Place
- March 24: Submission deadline for eighth grade photos
- Submit one 4" x 6" baby photo to Mrs. Carrie Stock
- Submit 6-8 digital photos from past years at POP to the eighth grade video chair (details to come), including one photo from the early years, one photo from the middle years, one recent photo, and 4-5 photos with POP friends
- March 27: Memory boards distributed at the end of day
- April 26: Memory boards due to homeroom teachers
- April 28: Memory boards and baby photos hung in the eighth grade hallway by the Eighth Grade Parent Committee
- May 13: Final 8th Grade Mass (8:00 a.m.)
- May 13: 8th Grade Awards (9:00 a.m.)
- May 14-16: 8th Grade final exams
- May 16: Final Day of 8th Gradae; 8th Grade Walk (8:15 a.m.)
- May 17: Cap & Gown photos (details to come)

ISEE Prep
ISEE Prep at John Paul II (October 10-November 9)
Registrants will visit John Paul II High School once weekly for small group tutoring led by current Mu Alpha Theta and National English Honor Society members. The cost is $30 for 5 weeks. 8th Grade Awards & Scholarships
8th grade award & scholarship recipients will be announced at the 8th Grade Awards Ceremony immediately following Mass on Monday, May 13, 2024.
Fr. Jim Balint Scholarship
Father Jim Balint, the founding pastor of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, has his footprint and wisdom sprinkled throughout the school. Fr. Jim loved our students, their willingness to learn, and their YES to grow as children of God. This scholarship exemplifies a student who shows Christian service by giving back to their community, as well as leadership and academics and helps ensure the recipient’s continuation of his or her Catholic education. Students submit an essay to apply.
Tyus Hill Scholarship
Tyus Hill is a POP Class of 2016 graduate, Jesuit College Preparatory School alumnus, and a current senior at the University of North Texas. Tyus's time at POP molded him into a passionate hard worker and lover of life. In spite of living with Muscular Dystrophy and using a wheelchair full-time, he is impossibly optimistic and hopeful. Tyus asks applicants for the Tyus Hill Scholarship to describe something they are passionate about and how it has impacted their lives and others.

Allyson Bohannon Goldman Memorial Fund Scholarship (presented to a student who will be attending Ursuline Academy)
Christian Leadership Award
Faculty members identify the recipient of this prestigious award, and the honoree is recognized for both their leadership and service. This student leads by example, is eager to assist others, and demonstrates an outstanding attitude.
Excellence in Service Award
The recipient of the Excellence in Service Award exemplifys the true meaning of a servant leader who demonstrates the ability to serve beyond expectations and displays a passion for service.
GRIT & Innovation Awards
The GRIT & Innovation Awards acknowledge students who have embraced 21st century skills. According to researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, grit is defined as "perseverance and passion for long-term goals.” Grit involves working strenuously toward challenges, maintaining effort and interest over years despite obstacles. At POP, we have identified the characteristics of a student exemplifying GRIT as demonstrating: a Growth mindset; Responsibility; Integrity; and Tenacity.
Innovation Award
The Innovation Award recognizes students for their innovative work through project-based learning done in the Cube, the Tech Lab, and in the classroom. The modern curriculum extends past textbooks, homework, and tests. Students are asked to present knowledge in new and creative ways, and through collaborative efforts with classmates.
Scholar-Athlete Award
The POP Star Scholar-Athlete Award is given to two eighth grade students, a male and female, who are outstanding in the classroom as well as in the athletic arena. Recipients of this award demonstrate hard work, determination, perseverance, kindness, positivity, and teamwork in all their endeavors.
Excellence in Attendance Award
The Excellence in Attendance Award honors students with outstanding attendance both during the school year and throughout their years at POP.

Subject Awards
It's POP tradition to recognize a student who has gone above and beyond in the specified discipline. Criteria for determining subject awards include: demonstrating academic distinction in the subject as compared to their peers, a strong work ethic, responsibility, and an enthusiasm for the subject.
