We're thrilled to welcome Mrs. Stephanie Cusick back for the 2024-2025 school year! Mrs. Cusick joined the POP team as a first grade teacher assistant in 2021 and knew that she would ultimately make the change to teacher, so she was eager to make the transition when the opportunity arrived. Mrs. Cusick earned a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies and Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M University (gig 'em!) and has previously taught pre-K, kindergarten, and first grade.
Mrs. Cusick and her husband James have been married for nearly 18 years and share three boys and current POP Stars including eighth grader Jimmy, sixth grader Jack, and fourth grader Bobby. The Cusicks have been at POP for six years and are excited to be back for a seventh! In her spare time, you can find Mrs. Cusick cheering on her boys at a football, baseball, or basketball game.
Why have you chosen to work in Catholic education? I have chosen to teach in Catholic education for the exact same reason I've chosen to end my kids to Catholic school. I believe it is important to focus on the whole child rather than just the education of a child. I believe that in today's world, it is more important than ever for our children to learn the values, principles, and virtues of the Catholic faith. I am also a product of Catholic education.
What do you enjoy about your job? What's not to love about first grade?! The kids LOVE learning new things. They bring such amazing energy each day and they make my job so much fun!
Favorite POP event and why? Any DPL Athletics game! Again, it goes back to the community. I'm there cheering on my kids, but I also get to cheer for student-athletes whose siblings are in my class.
