Mrs. Lora Corcoran is honored and humbled to join the POP faculty as a seventh and eighth grade social studies teacher for the 2024-2025 school year! Mrs. Corcoran joins us from Founders Classical Academy of Frisco where she taught seventh grade history and tenth grade honors world history.
Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Mrs. Corcoran has lived in North Texas for nearly 18 years. Mrs. Corcoran attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rogue where she earned a B.S. in Business Administration and Political Science as well as an M.S. in Education and Leadership Development. At an early age, Mrs. Corcoran became fascinated by history, and she remains passionate about teaching historical subjects.
Mrs. Corcoran's favorite aspect of teaching history is imparting on her students the ability to "think like a historian." Mrs. Corcoran believes that, while dramatic stories from the past are exciting, it is crucial that they learn the skills necessary to analyze information, think critically, and articulate what they have learned.
Mrs. Corcoran and her husband Aaron recently celebrated 21 years of marriage. They have four amazing children, including Julia (University of Oklahoma) and Aaron, Jr. (Prosper High School). Mrs. Corcoran is excited to have fifth grader John-Davis and third grader Evelyn joining her at POP! In her free time, Mrs. Corcoran can be found reading, perusing bookstores, watching historical documentaries, or traveling with family.
