Say hello to Mrs. Katie Chandler! Mrs. Chandler joined our multi-tiered support services team as a certified academic language therapist and dyslexia therapist in 2020 after serving as a classroom teacher at POP for six years. Mrs. Chandler was born and raised in Dallas and graduated high school from Ursuline Academy. This year marks Mrs. Chandler's eleventh anniversary in both Catholic education and at POP!
Mrs. Chandler holds an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas A&M University, a M.A. in Educational Administration from the University of North Texas, and and certification as an Academic Language Therapist. She teaches dyslexia therapy using the Take FLight program created by Scottish Rite hospital. Mrs. Chandler and her husband Eric share two children and POP alumni, Annie '21 and Luke '23, as well as boxer Shiloh. POP has been a second home to the Chandlers and Mrs. Chandler savors the great relationships she has formed with teachers as well as the wonderful support from the administrators.
What do you enjoy about your job? Dyslexia was a gray area for a long time. So much more is known about it now and I can use my knowledge to benefit the school. I love the bonds I have with my students and the "safe place" I can create for them.
What is something you enjoy that nobody else does? Peanut butter and syrup on waffles.
Any words of encouragement to graduating POP students? Put your best foot forward and make the effort. Your work ethic speaks volumes.
