Congratulations to eighth grade student Adelynn H., who won first place in the state of Texas in the national InvestWrite competition! Administrators, teachers, classmates, and even Adelynn's own parents were in attendance for what began as a Zoom call with SIFMA Foundations to discuss both the organization and the Stock Market Game. The conversation quickly turned into a discussion about InvestWrite, a national writing competition that reinforces classroom concepts by adding a critical thinking component, and Adelynn soon learned of her winning recognition as she received a gift certificate, banner, and plentiful hardware.
Adelynn’s writing assignment was fairly straightforward: identify what you believe to be the most important factor to research and take into a consideration when making selections for your investment portfolio, and explain your rationale for such. Accordingly, Adelynn wrote about the importance of first researching a company’s long-term growth: what can a company’s past success indicate about its future success? By tracking the pace of a company’s growth and whether stocks have appeared to rise or fall over various increments of time, Adelynn concluded, investors could best invest their dollars.
We so #POPProud of Adelynn for her clarity, coherence, and critical thinking skills. Congratulations once again, Adelynn!
