Our Curriculum
The Children's Learning Center (CLC) at Prince of Peace Catholic School is a preschool for children ages 3-5. The CLC follows the goals and objectives set forth by the Catholic Schools Diocese of Dallas, and the curriculum contains the Essential Elements of the Texas Education Agency.

Religion - As Catholic school educators, we infuse Gospel values into every area of our curriculum. Children participate in prayer and religion lessons daily and are encouraged to actively celebrate their faith. In addition, we attend weekly Worship Celebrations in the Sanctuary.
Literacy - We provide learning experiences and an environment that fosters increased vocabulary and oral language skills. Additionally, the students work on phonological awareness (the ability to hear and understand the different sounds of the spoken language). Your child will also be exposed to the more conventional components of literacy: knowledge of print, letters and words, and comprehension skills. We also encourage positive literacy experiences - children who are read to become children who are readers! Our students visit the Media Center/Library regularly.
Mathematics - Your student will have daily opportunities to build competence in a variety of math skills. Developing number concepts such as rote counting and one-to-one correspondence are usually one of the first skills to develop. Patterns and relationships are also important and set the foundation for geometry and spatial sense. Finally, teachers integrate STEM activities into their lessons and visit the Cube weekly to apply concepts learned in the classroom.
Science & Social Studies - Learning about the world around us is what being a preschooler is all about! We offer hands-on experiences that help your child gain knowledge and understanding of physical science (5 senses, cause and effect, changes in matter), life science (living things, their needs, and their habitats), and earth science (the natural world). Additionally, we learn about people in our community and those that have made an impact globally. We explore present-day traditions and customs as well as those from the past.
Specials - CLC students attend weekly physical education, Spanish, and music classes.
21st Century Learning - CLC classrooms are equipped with interactive smart boards for student use, but we do not have 1-to-1 devices in the Children's Learning Center.
