Welcome! I feel very blessed for the opportunity to welcome your children daily into a community where they are loved and challenged to use their God-given talents to fulfill their potential as they learn and grow closer to Christ.
We are committed to creating an environment that promotes open communication and fosters excellence in education. We consider it a privilege and a calling to work with the students of Prince of Peace Catholic School on a day-to-day basis, and we find great joy in helping our students "live for Jesus, love others, and learn.” We have a high standard of excellence in both academic and religious education, and our students continually rise to and exceed those expectations.
Prince of Peace offers academic and spiritual programming that crescendos as students enter higher grade levels. In addition to their core classes, students in grades K-8 may take courses such as art, music, technology, P.E., and Spanish, with students in grades 7-8 enjoying the added bonus of getting to select from an array of exciting electives including broadcast journalism, communications, fitness, and yearbook. As students mature, they may also join different service organizations such as RAK and Beta Club as well as participate in our various extracurricular offerings including DPL Athletics, band and choir, chess club, Destination Imagination, theater, and more. Additionally, students will come to take on greater roles as older prayer buddies and Mass volunteers, with many students participating as Junior Acolytes.
At Prince of Peace, staff and faculty members have a unique opportunity to invest in students through multi-tiered support systems and various educational strategies such as cooperative and project-based learning. Two of our most dynamic learning areas include the Cube (or i3 Lab) and the STAR Center. In the Cube, students have the chance to work collaboratively in a technologically advanced environment where they invent, innovate, and examine interdisciplinary connections through applied learning projects. In the STAR Center, students can take advantage of individualized learning with one of our excellent academic specialists and better learn to both their pace and learning style. With facilities like these, educators and administrators alike can best invest in the whole child.
Above all else, it is our mission as POP staff and faculty members that we instill strong Catholic values, foster a life of faith and servant leadership, provide a challenging academic environment, and inspire each student to shine to the fullest extent of his or her God-given potential.
We are incredibly blessed to have a supportive circle of parents and community members, and we know that our school is successful in large part because of the involvement of our families. We value your partnership and thank you for everything you do to make your child's educational experience positive and rewarding.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Dawn Gorlitz,
K-8th Assistant Principal
