CLC Traditions

CLC traditions are tailored to our school's mission and are both fun and exciting for our students. Here's what we do each year:

Service Outreach:
The CLC performs two outreach projects during the academic year. Each project is relevant and engaging to preschool students.

• A "Happy Birthday Jesus" party in which children donate gifts and baby items for the White Rose Center.
• CLC Fine Arts Night and the "Empty Bowl" project in which children show off the artworks and empty bowls they each handcraft. Fine Arts Night and the "Empty Bowl" project fall during the national Week of the Young Child.

Family Integration:

• CLC students host Donuts with Dad in the fall in addition to a Mother's Day Program for Mom in the spring. 
• PreK5 students host a Thanksgiving program for families in which they sing songs and share everything they are thankful for.  
• PreK4 and PreK5 Bridging Ceremony provides families with the opportunity to celebrate their growing saints and scholars as they transition into kindergarten.

Christmastime: 

• The CLC Christmas program in which PreK3 & PreK4 classes perform Christmas carols and reenact the story of Jesus' birth for their families.
• PreK5 students host a Christmas program for their families with singing and fun activities for all.

Crowning of Mary: 
In May, all CLC students participate in the crowning of Mary and a Mother's Day program filled with songs and poems about the love they have for their mothers.

Annual Events:

• The fall semester Harvest Party in which CLC students rotate through fun, seasonal stations with the help of parent volunteers.
• Mardi Gras Parade on Fat Tuesday in which PreK3-PreK5 students decorate floats and throw beads on a parade route through the K-8th building.
• Tiny Texans Week in which students celebrate Western heritage with festivities such as Cowboy Day, a petting zoo, and a chuckwagon breakfast.
• The year-end Alphabet Countdown in which PreK4 students recap each of the 26 letters they've studied during the school year in just as many days. Activities include sharing jokes on "J" Day and a drive-in movie as students celebrate vehicles and videos for "V" Day.
• Educational visits from the Plano Police Department, Plano Fire Department, and lots of wonderful community helpers.
