“New student applications for Prince of Peace Catholic School are surging, up 33% from last year as of this date,” reports Ashley Herrera, Director of Admissions. “We are particularly pleased by the interest in our Children’s Learning Center. We’re opening up an additional PreK3 classroom to handle the demand and keep class sizes low. And we’ll certainly have wait lists for PreK4 and Transitional Kindergarten.”
What is accounting for the surge?
“There are a number of positive things coming together,” Herrera explains. “We won the Blue Ribbon Award in the Fall for the third time. The completion of our parish-school construction project, which culminates in the dedication of our church on March 17, has everyone excited. Parents have been happy with our safety enhancements, including the perimeter security fence, the full-time policeman on duty, and our new door access systems. We’ve made a lot of cosmetic improvements, such as turfing the playground, new signs, new lighting, new flooring and wall-paper. Everything is looking sharper.”
Mr. Weber, the school president, agrees, adding, “Our principal, the assistant principals, teachers and staff here are outstanding. We were without a president and advancement director for a time, but we’re fully staffed now, and I think we’re all hitting our stride. It's a place of great faith and joy! We’re really optimistic about the future!"
Prince of Peace will send out new acceptances on Friday, March 8. New and existing families will have until March 25 to return the enrollment forms, pay the registration fee and lock down their spot, and then families on the wait list will be offered unclaimed spots in those classes in April.
The school anticipates wait lists in multiple grades; new applications will be considered on a case by case basis thereafter for the remaining available slots.
Students were able to tour the new sanctuary for the first time on March 4.
