Celebrating our staff and faculty members is easy, but it’s with great pride and gratitude that we announce our 2023-2024 POP Teacher of the Year! We're thrilled to recognize Mrs. Kathy Kenny and her impact on both our school community and students. For over 18 years, Mrs. Kenny has served in the CLC with pride, shaping saints and scholars in her PreK3 classroom. Mrs. Kenny loves her students as her own; with patience, kindness, and understanding, Mrs. Kenny meets her students where they are and empowers them to be their best selves on a daily basis. She cultivates a warm and safe classroom environment in which students are taught both values and what it means to treat one another with compassion. Importantly, Mrs. Kenny sets a daily example of Christian Service and inspires not only her students, but her colleagues to be the best teachers they can be. Mrs. Kenny is a shining example of what it means to be a Star, and we’re insurmountably grateful to have her on our team.
When asked in 2022 what she enjoys about her position, Mrs. Kenny responded: "The sense of community that I feel from both coworkers (especially my CLC family) and parents; I know I have a support system if I ever need it. I love working with the preschoolers, espeially the three year-olds. I joke with my family that when I see the kiddos outside of the classroom, I feel like a rockstar! The kids are always calling my name and hugging me — sometimes I get more love from them than my own kids! As a PreK3 teacher, I tend to be the parents' first real experience with school and POP in particular. I try to take time with each family and help them navigate this new experience, which could be anything from Cana Center to carpool etiquette."
Mrs. Kenny will represent POP as our nominee for the 2024 HALO Educator of the Year award, to be announced at an awards reception this spring. Congratulations, Mrs. Kenny, and thank you for all that you do for our school community — we’re so blessed by you!
